Twenty-six tunnels were constructed along the 469-mile parkway, including Twin Tunnels near milepost 345. Twenty-five of the tunnels are located in North Carolina due to the higher elevations and more rugged peaks of the road’s southern section.
Since lacing up his first pair of boots as a young teenager for a hike along the Appalachian Trail, J. Scott Graham has enjoyed the great outdoors. As a young adult he began taking pictures along his journeys and discovered a unique talent for portraying natural wonders.
